Little Interest

Little Interest is an ongoing creative project, 2019 - present, that takes a tour of England’s model villages as its point of investigation.

The project is the initiative of creative collaborators and miniature enthusiasts Amy Mock (Artist and Arts Educator) and Alfie Bell (Artist and Designer).

The idea brings together many interests and concerns of the artists. It seeks to celebrate the wit and ingenuity of these miniature monuments.

The model village is both a time capsule and an idyllic proposal. Coming to popularity in the post WW1 and Pre-EU years, their contemporary appeal hinges largely on the nostalgic aspect.

Fax Project

Fax Project, 2019, is a collaborative project in which creative briefs were exchanged via fax machine between artists Amy Mock and Ruth Page.

The evolving conversation explored a shared interest in brief led practices and visual communication. The fax machine facilitates a more physical exchange of ideas compared to contemporary forms of communication. The relay mechanism (transmitting and receiving briefs) supports creative dialogue and collaboration.

"For me, it’s about immediacy, how can I solve this challenge, GO!

Stemming from my experience as a student on the Foundation Diploma more than 10 years ago; I enjoy exploring innovative approaches when resolving briefs.

The excitement of having a new objective to examine daily has been creatively invigorating. "

Ruth Page

"Fax project is an opportunity for us to use skills we have developed as teachers; to further our own artistic practices. Challenging each other with increasingly absurd briefs like we are playing a game of truth or dare.

It is liberating to be both teacher and student, sometimes experiencing the agonising weight of a looming deadline and the frustration and obligation that is the brief.

A taste of our own medicine perhaps?"
